From winter wonderland maternity session to a snuggly newborn studio session, it was so great to see Linda and Brandon again. This time with baby Mai Olive. I can’t believe she’s already here, and I’m so excited to share a handful of images from her Charlotte newborn session in the studio. 

“What’s in a name?”

Naming our babies is one of the first big decisions we make as parents. It’s quite the responsibility, and it’s important to choose a name that can grow with them. It will carry them through all that life will bring their way. For some, like sweet Mai, it has extra special meaning. 

Mai is such a unique name and suits this sweet baby girl perfectly. It’s what Linda’s grandmother used to call her mom. The name Olive is from a biblical verse, special to both Linda and Brandon.

In the Studio

This is my second session with these three. They’ll complete their First Year Collective with two more sessions over Mai’s first year. We’ve already started Mai’s First Year Album with portraits from both sessions and more to come- I cannot wait to see it complete! 

For their newborn session, we started with Linda having her hair and makeup done while I photographed baby Mai. We started with a few portraits of her with her daddy, and I love how you can see just how proud of her he is already. Next, we made sure to get a few family portraits with everyone, including their dog Monkey. Monkey also made an appearance during our maternity session. I can’t wait to watch how Mai and her sweet pup become best buddies as she grows! 

We used quite a few little bows on Mai from the studio wardrobe for her session, and they were so sweet on her. We especially loved the little jeweled one for an extra bit of sparkle. For mom, we opted for a casual look to start and glammed things up a bit with a dramatic black dress at the end of our session. It was the perfect end to such a sweet newborn session, and I can’t wait to see them again soon for Mai’s next milestone!
