In last week’s post, we gave a nod to all the wonders of fall and how special the colors can be during the last part of the year here in North Carolina. Fall is truly one of my favorite seasons as a photographer. However, it isn’t the only one with natural beauty to enjoy. Not to be outdone, the winter sun almost always gives us a show. This beautiful maternity session was no different. As a maternity photographer in Denver NC, it’s such a joy to embrace all the seasons and what each has to offer. It can be especially fun working with the elements of each to make every session feel special, no matter the season.

Winter Wonderland Maternity Session

When Linda and I chatted about her maternity session she really had her heart set on snow. While it’s hard to predict snow in Denver, NC, we made sure to bring a snowy “feel” to our session. For our location, we decided on a beautiful local tree farm. We chose our time of day carefully to ensure lots of golden, glowing light. I love the way the lighting gave the trees a frosted look.

We even pulled in a bit of winter aesthetic with their wardrobe. Mom opted for a fur shawl for a bit of warmth paired with a beautiful lace dress. Dad looked dapper in a button-down shirt and a fresh pair of dark jeans.

I love that they included their pup in the session too! It was the perfect way to celebrate this season, just the three of them, before welcoming their baby girl soon. I have a feeling baby girl already has a built-in best friend with her big fur-brother!

This sweet family is part of my belly-to-baby membership and just started building their first-year album. They’ll be adding images from this session to get started and will feature images from each session during baby Mai’s first year. I can’t wait to share images from her newborn session so soon!
