Why I choose Beautycounter | Health

I wanted to share with you why I choose Beautycounter. When working my corporate job I had a lot of stress from a multitude of things and developed a strange itchy rash in my scalp. After several visits to my dermatologist with no luck of what it is, she told me to switch shampoo with no harsh ingredients. She gave me a few to try with no luck so I began my own search of better, healthier products. When living in Sweden and having Scandinavian fair sensitive skin I was used to the pharmacy brand ACO. It was mild and didn’t have a bunch of fragrance. It worked great. I would stock up on some every time I made it back.  Then back in March my friend invited me to her Beautycounter launch social. I had never heard of this brand before and was excited to go. I decided to try their daily shampoo and conditioner. Finally something that would wash my hair without fragrance and actually feel clean afterward. At the social I also tried the hand cream and hand wash, love at first wash!

Then I also learned about the mission Beautycounter are advocating. About changing the regulation to be able to bring safer products to everyone. I learned about the “Never list”, the list of potentially harmful and questionable ingredients Beautycounter doesn’t include in their products. I learned that the EU ban over 1400 ingredients and the US only ban 30. It used to be 11 ingredients a year or so ago but progress is being made. Crazy isn’t it? There has not been a major federal law passed since 1938 to regulate the beauty industry.

When I learned about the great work everyone is doing and my new found love for the products, I signed up to be a consultant too. I can now share these awesome products and mission with my friends and family and also all my clients with new babies. As a new parent we are all concerned what we put on the baby’s skin. We want to protect them from harmful ingredients. We read labels, thinking it says “Natural” so it must be, right? NOT true. Most are packed with ingredients that may cause cancer, DNA damage, reproductive issues. Not Beautycounter. There is a lot of research going into every product. Every ingredient is screened for human health hazards like cancer, hormone disruption, etc. Over 80% of the ingredients are organic, natural or derived from plants. And, it’s a certified B Corporation.
