One of my favorite experiences of being a Charlotte family photographer is working with my favorite families every fall! When clients return year after year for their family’s portraits, it’s the best kind of compliment and truly brings me so much joy. I get to watch these families grow and develop some of my most cherished relationships.

The Thomas Family

I’ve been photographing the Thomas family since sweet Emmi was a newborn. Now she’s in Kindergarten and the kindest and brightest little soul. I just love this family to pieces. It’s been such a joy getting the chance to watch these two little ones flourish and become “big kids” over the last five years!

One of my favorite moments from their session was when they were snuggling by the fountain. Seeing them have fun and interact was such a sweet reminder of how fast these little ones grow, even past the first year!

Family Session Planning

For their session, we chose one of my favorite downtown locations in Charlotte- Midtown Park. It has the most beautiful skyline and made for the perfect backdrop for their fall family session. For mom, we kept things super easy and fun by scheduling hair and makeup for her before our session. Adding this option to your portrait experience is another wonderful way to keep the day stress-free and enjoyable! I love giving moms the option to feel extra special and taken care of since we don’t always make it a priority for ourselves. 

For their wardrobe, Mom and Dad kept the look super classic to complement their location. I loved Mom’s choice of her belt, Emmi’s floral dress, and how big brother felt like he got to match Dad! Overall, they went for a polished look and let the kids stand out a bit with a pop of color and pattern.

We all had so much fun during this session and I loved all the genuine smiles from everyone. Their whole session was playful and we had the best time letting the moments unfold. I can’t wait to see this crew again in the new year!
